Seated are Margret J. Davis age 46 and John Davis age 41. John would lose his life within a couple of years. Standing to Margret's left are Mary Angeline Davis and James F. Davis. They would have been 8 and 7 years old respectively. I believe that the girl standing at the left would be May B. Davis age 11. Standing next to her would be Ida J. Davis age 13. I believe that Standing next to Ida could be Mary E. Davis, age 26. I am guessing that the man holding the baby is Dock, age 30. I have no idea who the baby is. Possibly the child of Mary E, Doc or Sam. Speaking of Sam, I believe he is standing next to the right of Doc. I am guessing that Doc is on the left and Sam is on the right just because the guy on the left looks older to me. Next to Dock would be Sam, age 23. I do not have the name of the girl at the upper right, I believe that there was a child born after Sam (1872) and before Ida (1883). Maybe Margret was pregnant with this child at the time of the 1880 census. That would make this child about 20 years old at the time of the 1900 census and about 16 or so at the time of the photograph. These are suppositions on my part about the Davis family on my part based on research. I had to do a lot of digging to find any information on them at all, but census data supports this. |
To the left is Margret J. Davis taken a few years before her death in 1927. Lower left is Aunt Ida Fisher, Granny Prather's sister. Lower right is Belle Ellison, James F. Davis and Mary Angeline Davis Prather. This photo was probably taken in the late 1950's. |
